I'm an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Durham University. I received my Ph.D. from University of Southern California and was previously at the University of Nottingham.

My work re-examines various notions of normativity (autonomy, agency, shame). I argue that many standard theories can be scruticinised by consdering the lived experiences of members of marginalised groups. More positively, I think this form of non-ideal theorising opens up space for novel and constructive theories.

Some of my other work explores what can reasonably be demanded from our theories.

I am one of the Organzing Committee for the annual Legal Philosophy Workshop (LPW). One of the aims of LPW is to create a community of legal philosophers broadly construed. Due to the pandemic, LPW took place online in 2020 and 2021. We hope, however, to have an in-person LPW at USC in 2022. If you are interestd in being on our mailing list, please email us at lpwcommittee [at] gmail [dot] com.

I am on the Executive Committee for Society for Women in Philosophy, United Kingdom. I am in charge of the BPA/SWIP(UK) Mentoring Scheme. You can find out how to apply for a mentor or how to become a mentor on our website.
